Weiner jokes: Boehner upset with the tanning bed tax

The Hill wasn't the only outlet live-blogging the healthcare summit yesterday. Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) provided his analysis in a Daily Kos thread, and managed to get in at least one shot at House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio).

"I think Leader Boehner is particuarlly livid about the tanning bed tax," Weiner wrote of the bronze-skinned Republican. "Surprised he hasn't mentioned it."

The Senate health bill would in fact levy a new tax on tanning beds to help pay for expanded coverage.

This isn't the first time Boehner's pigmentation has prompted jokes from his opponents. At the 2009 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, President Barack Obama compared himself to the Republican, joking, "[Boehner] is a person of color, although not a color that appears in the natural world."
