Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) used Sunday's Mother's Day holiday to take a swipe at the United Nations.

Palin chided the UN for having elected Iran to its commission on women's rights.

The 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate tweeted Sunday:

U.S. Moms: we are thankful 4 freedom!Despicable treatment of women in Iran(setting U.N.policy on women’s rights)make U.N.credibility a joke

The selection of Iran to the 45-member commission drew scrutiny, in no small part because of its Islamic-based laws which restrict women's rights.
