Haley Barbour coming to Glover Park eatery

Most D.C. political fundraisers are held in hotel ballrooms, or on Capitol Hill, and cost a minimum of $500, but Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour (R) is breaking the mold this month.

Barbour, chairman of the Republican Governors Association, is coming to Kitchen, a hip Glover Park restaurant co-owned by 25-year old Fritz Brogan, for a fundraiser to benefit Barbour's PAC on June 24.

Brogan is well known among preppy, mostly conservative Georgetown circles: he worked on White House advance teams during the George W. Bush administration and graduated from Georgetown Law School this year. He opened Kitchen and an adjoining pub, Gin & Tonic, in 2009.

Brogan bills the Mississippi governor, who is mulling a run for president in 2012, as "one of the most entertaining politicians I have ever met."

The mostly young clientele of Brogan's two establishments are offered the chance to meet Barbour at a reception at G&T for $100, and to join him for dinner at Kitchen for $250.

These are reasonable prices by any political fundraising standards, and the $250 even gets you a photo with Barbour.

Both events, Brogan points out, are open bar.
