The family of George W. Bush laughs off blame assigned by Democrats to the former Republican president for the nation's current circumstances, former first lady Laura Bush said.

During a Web interview with former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R), Mrs. Bush said she ignores Democrats' arguments that they inherited a poor economy and other problems from her husband.

"Yeah, I just ignore it," Bush said in a Fox News extra.

"We've almost gotten where we think it's funny," the former first lady added. "Now we're all blaming George for something in our family."

Democrats have hammered away at Bush on a number of issues since he left office in January of 2009. Democrats have long maintained that they inherited the current economic circumstances from the policies of the Bush administration, and recently, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) slammed Bush-era holdovers at the Minerals Management Service, the regulatory agency in charge of offshore drilling.

The former president is set to address those issues and other points of his presidency in his memoir, Mrs. Bush said.

Bush himself has stayed largely silent since leaving office, though he defended his administration's practices toward terror suspects in a speech last week.
