Snooki: I voted for John McCain because he’s cute

There’s a new chapter in the ongoing correspondence between members of the McCain family and Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi of MTV’s “Jersey Shore.”

Meghan McCain, the daughter of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), on Monday published a very funny interview with Polizzi on The Daily Beast.

The reason it was so funny is that McCain’s questions were serious, and Snooki’s answers were, well, classic Snooki.

For example, McCain asked the 22-year-old reality television star whether she’d always been a Republican (Snooki said she voted for Sen. McCain in the 2008 presidential race). Snooki explained that her political knowledge was limited to “politics about, like, you know, tanning and being a Guidette.” As for why she voted for McCain, Snooki told the senator’s daughter, “The only reason why I voted for your father was because he was really cute, and I liked when he did his speeches.” Brilliant.

As for the now-infamous “tanning tax” that sparked Sen. McCain’s original Twitter chat with Snooki in June, the bronzed actress said she’s still upset at the idea of taxing indoor tanning. “You feel more sexy when you’re tan, and I don’t understand why you would tax on that, because you’re making yourself feel more happy about yourself.”

The second season of “Jersey Shore” begins July 29 on MTV.
