Police arrested a 50-year-old man Wednesday in connection with a fire at Rep. Russ Carnahan's (D-Mo.) St. Louis campaign headquarters.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that the incident occurred Tuesday and is under investigation by the police as a possible arson.

Police have not released the name of the man in custody pending the application of warrants, according to the Post-Dispatch. They have also not reported any potential motive.

No one was in the office at the time of the alleged arson and no injuries were reported to the authorities, according to reports.

Last year, several people were arrested at a Carnahan town-hall meeting when a fight broke out between protesters and his supporters.

Carnahan (right) is running against Republican Ed Martin (left), and the nonpartisan Cook Political Report rates the outcome of the race as likely remaining Democratic.
