Some people say Italy in August is too touristy, but for former House Speaker and conservative pundit Newt Gingrich and liberal blog-founder Arianna Huffington, it's just right.

The unlikely pair of U.S. politicos ran into each other in the Italian resort town of Amalfi this week, 35 km southeast of Naples.

Huffington posted this photo of her (center) with friends (left) and Newt and Callista Gingrich (second and third in from right) along with the caption, "Unexpected encounters: in Amalfi, running into Newt Gingrich and his wife (even invited him to blog about his new book)."
