Newt Gingrich: Hot celeb in Italy?

He's one of the most recognizable faces in American politics, but this summer, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich went global.

Gingrich and his wife Callista spent a few weeks in the Italian resort town of Positano in August, where, judging by the photos, he was a bit of a local celeb.

First the pair posed for pics with liberal blog-queen Ariannia Huffington, who posted them on Twitter. But that's not all.

Hana and Kevin Cohen also wanted a picture taken with the conservative pundit after they bumped into the couple at La Sponda, the chic restaurant at Le Sireneuse, an 18th century palazzo turned 5 star hotel. The Cohens are on the left, and Gingrich's to the right.

After exchanging pleasantries and taking the pic, the couples dined a few tables away from each other.
