President Barack Obama handed out Thanksgiving meal supplies to needy families on Wednesday afternoon at Martha's Table, a soup kitchen in Northwest Washington, D.C. Obama was joined by First Lady Michelle Obama, their daughters Sasha and Malia, First Grandmother Marian Robinson, and his half-sister Maya Soetoro-Ng and her family.

The First Family assumed their places in a line of volunteers on the ground floor at approximately 4:30 p.m. The president handed out pumpkin pies, while Mrs. Obama handed out fresh vegetables, and their daughters gave out stuffing and canned goods. Robinson was in charge of the frozen turkeys, which were already packed into grocery bags from Whole Foods.

Obama chatted briefly with recipients and wished them a happy Thanksgiving before they moved through the line and on to other volunteers distributing various supplies.

On the second floor, Soetoro-Ng and her husband, Konrad Ng and their two daughters, Suhaila and Savita also helped with distributions; the Ngs are visiting the Obamas for the Thanksgiving holiday.
