Sen. Brown on Craigslist Killer: I 'feel terribly for the fiancée'

Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass) on Monday said he sympathized with Megan Mcallister, the former fiancée of Philip Markoff, better as Boston's "Craigslist Killer."

"You feel terribly for the fiancée in that whole situation," Brown told WHDH Channel 7. "This is somebody that had this amazing double life. It’s surreal."

Brown was the VIP guest at a viewing party for the new Lifetime movie, "The Craiglist Killer," based on the alleged crimes of former medical student Philip Markoff.

The party was held at Jerry Remy's Sports Bar and Grille, and the guest of honor was Michelle McPhee, the Boston-based author of the book on which the movie was based.

McPhee's 2010 book, "A Date with Death: The Secret Life of the Accused "Craigslist Killer" chronicles Philip Markoff's alleged 2009 murder of Julissa Brisman, and raises the possibility that Brissman wasn't Markoff's only victim.

Markoff, then a medical student, met Brissman on Craigslist, where she advertised erotic services. Charged with her murder in late 2009, Markoff committed suicide in prison last August while awaiting trial.
