Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.)
For the third year in a row, Senator Corker’s offices in D.C. and Tennessee gathered items and delivered holiday care boxes to soldiers recovering from disease and injury at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital and the Warrior Transition Unit at Ft. Campbell. The drive was conceived and brought about by Stacie Oliver, Sen. Corker’s military and foreign affairs aide who is also a military spouse.

“Despite our challenges, we still live in the greatest country in the world and have much to be thankful for this holiday season,” Corker said. “In one small effort to recognize our troops, our staff has again this year gathered care items for soldiers … with this gesture we hope service members will recognize our appreciation for their sacrifices both at Christmas and on each day of the coming year.”

Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.)
Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton joined characters from The Nutcracker for the Annual Capitol Hill Christmas Party. Over 200 disadvantaged children were treated to a lunch of sandwiches, fruit, veggies, cupcakes and fruit juice as well as entertainment.

After lunch, the children were given new coats and a toy from Santa and Mrs. Claus and their elves.

“We are bringing on Christmas for our D.C. kids with gusto this year, the year of the ‘Great Recession,’” Norton said. “Our Christmas party this year must be dedicated not only to making these small tots happy for Christmas, but also encouraging them to believe things will get better, especially for them.”

Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Va.)
The Congressman recently volunteered with both the Salvation Army’s toy drive and the Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program. Over the holidays he’s looking forward to spending time with his family. He is also looking forward to hunting with his four yellow labs.

Wittman will also be crowning the queen at the Holly Ball, which is a local debutante ball in his district.
