The Capitol Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation had its annual Palm Night dinner at The Palm in Tyson’s Corner Monday evening.

The JDRF honored Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) for his efforts in supporting Type 1 diabetes research. Olympian Gary Hall, Jr. also joined guests in celebrating Harkin’s work. Hall, along with Charlotte Cunningham of Bethesda, shared their experiences living with Type 1 diabetes.

The dinner traditionally honors a member of Congress who has shown outstanding dedication to the JDRF’s mission of finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes.
