The Canterbury Medal

On Friday, June 18, The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty held its 15th annual Canterbury Medal Dinner at The Four Seasons, Georgetown. This year's honoree was Robert P. George, McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence at Princeton University.

Hundreds of civil and religious leaders gathered at the event to celebrate and honor Professor George's scholarly and popular writings as well as his public service in defense of religious freedom. In his keynote address, the conservative Christian thinker saluted The Becket Fund and other group's efforts in fighting for the rights of people of all religious persuasions.

The event's entertainment included a surprise performance from a lively gospel choir, bringing many members of the audience to their feet.

Leaders from many different faiths, including His Beatitude Metropolitan Jonah, writers, including Catholic columnist and novelist Michael Novak, and notable benefactors, including  J.W. "Bill" Marriott, Jr. were in attendance.
