| The ballroom at The Ritz -Carlton was filled to capacity last night when co-chairs Terry McAuliffe and Samia Farouki hosted a gala for the first time to benefit Tomorrow’s Youth Organization, a group whose mission is to work in disadvantaged areas of the Middle East to help children, teens and their parents build strong, responsible communities. TYO is the brainchild of Hani Masri who founded the organization in 2007 with a vision and a mission to improve the lives of those suffering from poverty and violence.
The night began when Quincy Jones, a TYO supporter, introduced the Dupont Park Children’s Choir and the children enthusiastically sang his song Tomorrow (A better you, A better me). Honorees Cherie Blair, who joined forces with TYO through her own charity, The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, and former President Bill Clinton (who looked fit and zigzagged the room shaking hands and warmly greeting his many friends and supporters) spoke about the critical work TYO is engaged in and the vital role it serves in fostering support for women and children in Nablus and throughout the region.
Serving on the gala committee and in attendance were Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba, Queen Noor al-Hussein, Ronald and Beth Dozoretz, Ann Walker Marchant, Stuart and Gwen Holliday, Zeid and Beth Masri, David and Katherine Bradley, Vernon and Ann Jordan and many other friends of TYO. The sentiment in the room was overwhelmingly supportive for the vision of one man, Hani Masri, and for the efforts it takes from so many others to achieve it.
