George Stephanopoulos and Ali Wentworth

E-mail

A Clinton administration wunderkind, George Stephanopoulos married the Waspy television actress in November of 2001, in what was billed as the Washington wedding of the year.

Nearly two decades later, George’s career as a political commentator and host is red-hot: his Sunday morning show on ABC, "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" is the fastest growing network weekend news program, consistently beating its rival, NBC's flagship Meet the Press.

A native Washingtonian, Ali is the daughter of former White House social secretary Mabel Cabot and Washington Post reporter Ed Wentworth.

An actress by training, after raising two daughters Wentworth landed a leading role in 2008 alongside Laura Linney on the Showtime series Head Case, about a woman living with cancer.

Socially, George and Ali constitute one of Washington’s most powerful young couples, whether entertaining at home in their recently renovated Georgetown row house or lending their names to A-List party committees. They like to go out, and their humor and energy is a welcome addition to any party.

When Ali decides to paint the town without her husband, it’s frequently in the company of her sister, jewelry designer Sissy Yates, who is married to film producer Angus Yates. George, meanwhile, is a regular on the political media party circuit; look for him at Margaret Carlson’s packed-house book launch parties.
